Boston bars, restaurants gear up for ‘madhouse’ during Celtics’ NBA Finals games at TD Garden

Bars and restaurants in Boston, especially those near TD Garden, are stocking up on beer, liquor and food before the Celtics host the Golden State Warriors in Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday.Nolan Hamilton, manager of Hurricane’s at The Garden, said he expects big business at Hurricane’s and sister restaurant, The Harp, for Game 3 and Friday’s Game 4. “It’s crazy. A lot of long nights. But this is what the staff kind of waits for all year long,” Hamilton said. “So it’s a huge payoff to get to the Finals and kind of stretches the season out as much as they can.”There is a very similar vibe among the workers at Halftime Pizza on Causeway Street.”It’s going to be a zoo. It’s going to be a madhouse. I don’t know, really, what else to say about it other than that,” said Matthew Pasquale. “But it’s going to be exciting and I can’t wait for it. The energy is going to be there.”After two well-attended NBA Finals watch parties for Game 1 and Game 2, the city of Boston announced Tuesday that there will not be a free watch party near Faneuil Hall for Game 3 due to incoming rain. Some Celtics fans who spoke with NewsCenter 5, however, said they were hoping the city would have held a watch party despite the weather.”This week is stunning, so everybody should be out celebrating the Celtics,” said Linda Abernathy. But for bars and restaurants, no watch party and bad weather is welcome news.”With the rain, we expect more people to be indoors here,” Hamilton said. “I mean, it’s unfortunate for them, but it’s good for us.”It remains unclear whether the city of Boston will hold a free NBA Finals watch party for Game 4 on Friday.
